The motel is centrally located within a town rich in Australian history, commonly known as the "Birthplace of Federation." The imposing Sir Henry Parkes School of Arts building houses today a museum and cinema where once was delivered that speech now known as having "launched" an Australian nation; both this building and Tenterfield Saddler- made famous by Peter Allen's song about his grandfather who worked there- are between five-and ten-minutes' walk away.

Beyond its immediate history, the location also marks the beginning of entry into spectacular granite country in the New England region. A short drive from Bald Rock National Park- home to the largest granite monolith in the southern hemisphere- is Boonoo Boonoo National Park where waterfalls plunge into granite gorges. Stay at Settlers Motor Inn and use ‘Tenterfield’ as a base camp by day for hiking these rugged landscapes or exploring up-and-coming wineries known for cool climate wines; then return with comfort town center within minutes! Practicalities on supermarket/pharmacy just down road long travelers appreciated.

The vibe of the town changes with the seasons and so perfectly does the location of this motel highlight that. Tenterfield is known for having distinct four seasons, which is rare through most parts of Australia.[28] During autumn, streets around the motel light up in blazing red and orange colors from European trees planted by early settlers. Winter can get frosty here; sometimes it even snows!
