Drive. That’s the easiest way because it sits on the major inland route between Sydney and Brisbane. From Brisbane, it is about a 3½-hour drive on the Cunningham Highway via Warwick and Stanthorpe—a pretty drive that passes through the Granite Belt wine region before crossing over into New South Wales. The motel appears on your right as you are entering town from up north. From Sydney, it’s a long haul—about 8 to 9 hours up the New England Highway via Tamworth and Armidale. Generally an excellent road, dual-lane in many parts, offering a less stressful (if slower) alternative to the frenetic Pacific Highway on the coast.

For those travelers who do not have their own car, options are also available albeit slightly limited. A NSW TrainLink service runs daily between Sydney and Armidale with connecting coaches from Armidale to Tenterfield. There are also coach services directly from Brisbane to Tenterfield. The bus stop is quite central within town and while technically possible to walk to the motel from here, laden with suitcases it becomes preferable simply to call what must be one of Australia’s most reliable country taxi services!

The logistics of the motel, even after arrival at the property, are set up for motorists. A wide driveway makes it easy to swing in-well; convenient also for someone driving a larger SUV or utility vehicle. Parking is allocated per room just outside your door under cover (benefits-in winter keeping frosting off windshields and summer keeping cars cool). Important if you’re towing a trailer, boat or caravan-the parking lot is large but spaces can get tight with long rigs when full best to call ahead speak them about specific areas they want you park maybe even on street quiet side street that runs alongside property.
